Mothers Day is fast approaching and, across the country, kids – and grown-ups too – will be wracking their brains to think of a last-minute gift that is as special and unique as Mum herself.
Well the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open has the perfect solution in the form of a grandstand ticket on the 18th green, giving Mum ‘the best seat in the house’ to watch Rory McIlroy defend his title on home soil for the first time at Portstewart Golf Club from July 6-9.
Whether Mum is a big golf fan or not, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation is a great day out for all the family with lots of entertainment, bars and dining outlets on offer for young and old alike in the Championship Village.
This year’s tournament is set to be the biggest ever, with ticket sales already well ahead of where they were for last year’s event. Only last week, an extra 300 seats were added to the 18th grandstand after the initial batch sold out for the Sunday in double quick time.
So if you want to let Mum rest her legs and view all of the drama on the 18th green in comfort, grandstand tickets are available for an additional £11.50 for Thursday and Friday, £16.50 for Saturday and £21.50 for Sunday.
These prices are on top of the daily ticket price which starts at just £20 for Pro-Am Wednesday, where Mum can catch a glimpse of a host of non-golfing stars as well as the world’s best golfers. One-day tickets for Thursday and Friday cost £40 with tickets for the weekend costing £45 per day.
A season ticket for the event, which offers a full five-day world-class experience, can be purchased for only £100 (a saving of £90 over the course of the five days).
And great news for families is that children up to 16 are permitted free entry when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.
“Mother’s Day is a lovely time of year when mums are showered with love and gifts to make them feel extra special,” said Simon Alliss, the European Tour’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Championship Director.
“A ticket to this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is a perfect way to give mum a treat she won’t forget due to the line-up of sporting and celebrity stars and excellent entertainment on offer.
“And with this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open taking place on the spectacular Causeway Coast, families have a real opportunity to put together a Mother’s Day break to remember with accommodation, wonderful scenery and lots to see and do in this beautiful part of the world.”
A wide range of ticketing options are available to purchase at www.dubaidutyfreeirishopen.com Concessions* are also available for customers aged over 60 and between 16 and 21.
To complete that perfect break, www.discovernorthernireland.com contains lots of information on accommodation offers and things to do and see in and around Portstewart during the week of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
And finally, Mums will also be glad to hear that a portion of all ticket sales will go directly to the Rory Foundation which supports children’s charities around the world.
* Concession tickets available from just £30 per day (£35 at weekend) and £85 for the season ticket.
