Canice Screene shot a second consecutive round of 69 to move to -6 and into a tie for second at the Hauts de France Open on the LET Access Series.
The former Irish Women’s Amateur Close champion made three birdies and one bogey on her opening nine holes, then followed up with two birdies – including one on the 18th – and one dropped shot on the back to put herself in with a chance of securing a maiden professional victory.
Beth Coulter won’t be joining her in the final round as a two-over 74 left her on +3 overall and three shots outside the cutmark.
Lucie Malchirand continues to lead the way, however. The Frenchwoman fired a four-under 68 to open up a three-shot cushion into Saturday’s final round.
Malchirand, who shot an opening round 67, leads the trio of Switzerland’s Natalie Armbruester (68), England’s Ellie Gower (67) and Screene (69) by three strokes at Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club.
Screene will play in the penultimate group in the final round.
