Our latest Irish Golfer Event was treated to Dromoland Castle’s Sunday best as sunny skies greeted a sold out field at the pristine County Clare venue.
With three categories in operation this year once more and over €5,000 in prizes, it was a typically competitive day and although conditions were ideal for scoring, nobody managed to break the 40-point barrier on Sunday.
37 points proved enough to take out Category One where Gary Morrison’s haul off a 5 handicap edged out Phillip Brown and Eugene Ryan who both missed out on count-back. With the win, Morrison took home the TaylorMade SIM Driver and booked his Grand Final Place for October’s K Club finale.
It was similarly tight in Category Two with Fergal O’Connell’s 38 points getting the better of Shane Moriarty after another count-back was needed to decide the victor.
In the Ladies Category, Ann Hayes pipped Helena O’Sullivan to the post after taking top spot by one point with a great score of 33 on the day.
In the Nearest the Pin competition, Annette Boland collected the prized Motocaddy S1 Electric Trolley after striking her approach to just 25″ while Niamh Mason and Lar Ryan won out in the Long Drive competition. The Gross went to Tim O’Mahony’s 72 wallops who can dial in his shots even more from now on with a new Sureshot Laser Rangefinder.
Thanks again to everyone who took part and well done to all of our winners, especially our category winners who we will see at our Grand Final later this year. A member of our events team will get in contact with you early this week to arrange collection or delivery of your prize.
