A late birdie salvaged a 72 for Mark Power as he remained on six-under-par and within five shots of the lead heading into the weekend at the Challenge de Espana.
Power arrested a run of seven straight pars on the back nine with a birdie at the par-4 17th and although he couldn’t birdie the par-5 18th he is sitting pretty in a share of tenth place at Isla Canela Links.

The birdie on 17 was a reward for his endeavour and he has a chance of clinching his first HotelPlanner Tour victory over the weekend.
It has been a positive week for the Irish contingent so far with James Sugrue a shot further back after a 72 of his own that included eleven straight pars to finish his round.
Back on four under and in a share of 21st are Max Kennedy and Liam Nolan after rounds of 69 and 68 respectively while JR Galbraith is a shot further back after a 72.
The lead is held by American Dan Erickson on eleven under after a 64.
