Liam Nolan is hunting back to back victories on the HotelPlanner Tour after third round of 65 moved him to within five shots of the lead heading into the final day of the Hainan Open at Sanya Luhuitou GC.
Nolan has shown that there is no hangover from his maiden professional win last week and although he has to come from behind on Sunday he has given himself an opportunity to seal promotion to the DP World Tour with another win.
The Galway man fired a superb eight birdies and he shares fifth place on fourteen-under-par as Lars Van Der Vight hit the front on nineteen-under.
Nolan began with three stage pars before rolling in birdies on the 4th and 6th. Back to back birdies on the 8th and 9th put him back into the fringes of contention. He burst into life after a dropped shot on the 10th with a hat trick of birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th and a closing birdie on 18 edged him ever closer to the leader.
The 26-year-old is projected to move from 12th to 9th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings with the top-15 set to earn DP World Tour cards at the Grand Final.
Van Der Vight carded a blistering 62 to take a three shot lead over Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen and overnight leader Joseba Torres of Spain.
