Robert Moran goes into the final round of the Alps Tour’s Memorial Giorgio Bordoni in Como in solo second and just two shots off the lead.
After making a bright start to the 2026 campaign and three runner-up finishes, the Castle man looked on course to earn promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour by finishing inside the top five on the Order of Merit, but a dip in form had seen him fall to eighth arriving at GC La Pinetina.
An opening round of 66 left him tied for seventh, and he made the ideal start to round two by birdieing the first and seventh before eagling the par-5 eighth and making the turn at -4 for the day.
Two further birdies on the back nine saw him complete a bogey-free 64 – only one player went lower on the day – and he’ll play in the final group on Friday alongside a pair of home favourites in leader Andrea Romano and amateur Matteo Manini who is one of five players tied for ninth at -9, one behind Moran and three behind Romano.
Hugh Foley, tied for 34th at -3, is the only other Irishman to make the cut after Stephen Grant (-1) and Sam Murphy (+2) both missed out.
Foley began the day at level-par and outside the projected cutline but carded a three-under 67 thanks to four birdies and one bogey to make the cut with a shot to spare.
