Allister carded rounds of 64 and 71 on Monday to set the halfway pace at five-under-par and he will be looking for more of the same for the final 36 holes today.
The Belvoir Park man gave himself a one shot morning lead over his club mate Darcy Hogg courtesy of seven birdies and just one bogey and he made a great start to his afternoon round with an opening birdie but followed it up with dropped shots on the 2nd and 17th.
Allister leads by four from Glasson’s Isaac Oliver who carded rounds of 69 and 70 and is the only other player to be in red figures at the halfway point.
Hogg is level-par after rounds of 65 and 75 with Malone’s Fionn Dobbin a shot further back alongside Caelan Coleman, Finlay Eager and Jordan Hood.
Meanwhile, things are tighter in the Ulster Women’s Strokeplay Open Championship with Co. Louth star Ellen O’Shaughnessy leading by one shot on three-under after rounds of 70 and 71.
O’Shaughnessy has some big names chasing her including Knock’s Katie Poots who carded rounds of 73 and 69 for a two-under total.
Laura Webb of Royal Portrush is plus two after back to back rounds of 73 while Miami collegiate golfer Rebekah Gardner (Clandeboye) is three-over alongside Kayleigh Mulholland.
