Olivia Costello was in a league of her own as she roared into the final of the Women’s Spanish Amateur Championship at Golf El Prat.
The Roscommon star cruised by the challenge of Frenchwoman Sara Brentcheneff winning 4&3 and completing the fifteen holes in five-under-par in the process.
Costello and Brentcheneff halved the first hole in fives but after Costello went 1UP on the second hole the 16-year-old never looked back.
The former Irish Girls’ champion won the fourth, seventh, ninth and tenth holes to build an unassailable lead despite Brentcheneff eating into the advantage slightly as she narrowed the deficit to three holes after 13.
But Costello slammed the door shut in her face and ended any hopes of a comeback with a win on the 14th to dormie 4UP and she saw out the match with a four on the 15th.
Costello will take on home favourite Nagore Martinez Salcedo in Sunday’s final.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Spanish Amateur Championship at Guadalhorce Golf Club, Connemara’s Luke O’Neill is through to the semi-finals after play eventually got back underway after a weather suspension on Friday.
O’Neill defeated Kris Kim 2&1 in a tightly contested quarter final. The match was level pegging through the first seven holes but back to back birdies saw O’Neill take the lead on the ninth.
The Galway man doubled his lead on the fourteenth and managed to chisel out three halves to see out the result.
