Paula Grant signed off with a one-under-par 71 to move into a share of 14th spot at the close of the South American Amateur Championship in Chile.

The experienced Lisburn campaigner enjoyed a fruitful weekend with Grant’s superb 69 on moving day consolidated by her strong Sunday finish at Los Leones in Santiago.

The result saw her finish alongside Lurgan’s Annabel Wilson who posted an even par 72 to end the 72-hole tournament on six-over-par.

Maria Escauriza fired successive 68s over the weekend to romp to victory by eight strokes on 12-under-par.

In the men’s competition, Peter O’Keeffe slumped to a disappointing four-over-par 76 to end his bid in 29th position on six-over-par.

The Douglas bomber was the sole Irish representative in the field after Galway’s Ronan Mullarney pulled out through illness.
