Maynooth Universities Caolan Rafferty tied for 16th as France’s Hubert Tisserand claimed a one-shot win in the French Amateur Open at Chantilly yesterday.

The Dundalk man followed rounds of 74, 69 and 72 with a final round 71 to finish on a two-over-par 286.

The winner, Hubert Tisserand shot a one-over-par 72 in the final round, finishing with a birdie to edge out compatriots François Lagralet (68) and Jeremy Gandon (71) by a stroke on five-under-par 279.

Galway’s Ronan Mullarney (77 68 71 73) tied for 25th with Naas’ Jonathan Yates (70 70 77 72) on five-over 289. Hermitage’s Rowan Lester as a shot further back in 31st (76 69 74 71).

Massereene’s Tiarnan McLarnon tied for 36th on seven-over as he followed rounds of 74, 70 and 76 with a 71 with Castle’s Alex Gleeson 48th on 13-over 297 as he shot rounds of 71, 73, 77 and 76.
