With Senior, Junior and Intermediate categories, County Longford Golf Club will host the first playing of its Scratch Cup on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August 2026, introducing a new championship fixture to the Irish golfing calendar.
Played over 18 holes of gross strokeplay off the blue tees, the competition is open to members and visitors alike, with three handicap divisions ensuring a genuine test at every level: Senior (index below 2.9), Junior (3.0–9.4) and Intermediate (9.5–18.0).
Each division carries a prize fund of €300 for first, €200 for second and €150 for third, with more than €2,000 on offer across the weekend.
The event is proudly sponsored by Barry Mollaghan PhysioWorks. Mollaghan, who serves as a physiotherapist on the DP World Tour, brings a distinctly professional pedigree to the club’s flagship new competition.
Set against the mature parkland of Leader Park in Glack, the County Longford layout offers a rewarding challenge for the field, blending tree-lined fairways and well-guarded greens with the warm welcome for which the club is known.
“We’re delighted to launch the Scratch Cup and thank Barry Mollaghan PhysioWorks for their support,” a club spokesperson said. “We’d encourage golfers from across the region to come and be part of something special in its very first year.”
Entry is €15 for members and €40 for visitors. Booking is open now through the club, and full details are available at countylongfordgolfclub.com/scratch-cup or by calling 043 33 46707.
