The Ulster Mid-Amateur Open Championship at Portsalon was won by Ian Lynch (Rosslare) with scores of 74, 74 and a superb final round of 68 for a three-under total.
The Rosslare golfer completed a two-shot victory over Scott Jones of Belvoir Park after a birdie at the last hole. Jones shot the best score of the tournament, a 67 in the final round of the event to chase Ian Lynch to the 54th hole.
Lynch would be no stranger to links conditions coming from Rosslare and he made a terrific start to his final round with three birdies in his first four holes. A rollercoaster run around the turn saw him bounce back from a double bogey on the 7th with an eagle on the par-5 8th and a birdie on the 9th.
He took control of the day with a birdie at the par-5 11th and was steady coming home with a bogey on 15 and a closing birdie to maintain some daylight between himself and Jones.
Both Lynch and Jones were the only players to finish in red figures with Seamus Cullen of Slieve Russell taking third on one-over and Darren McCormack of Crosstown round off the top-4 on two-over.
