The Fota Island duo of David Howard and John Doyle are part of an eight-strong Golf Ireland squad travelling to take part in the Brabazon Trophy next week.
Howard came with a late run to almost force a play-off as Patrick Keeling took the honours in a thrilling finish at the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship in Seapoint last Sunday.
Doyle featured in a Junior Ryder Cup and Amgen Irish Open last year and will make the trip along with Mark Cadden (Roganstown) who won the West of Ireland Amateur Open Championship earlier this season.
The 2026 Fairhaven Trophy Boys’ Champion, Isaac Oliver (Glasson), is also part of the setup, as is last year’s Amateur Championship finalist and Walker Cup player, Gavin Tiernan (Co Louth).
Last season’s South of Ireland winner Jonathan Keane (Lahinch) and the experienced duo of Matt McClean (Malone) and Keith Egan (Carton House) complete the squad.
The action gets underway at Moortown on 21 May with the travelling squad looking to follow in the footsteps Liam Nolan, the most recent Irish winner of the Brabazon Trophy.
