Golfers facing another winter of frozen courses and cancelled tee times can trade the driving range for La Cala Resort, home to 63 holes – the largest single-site golf offering in Spain. Stays are available from a long weekend to a full winter season, each built around exactly how much golf – and how much rest – guests want.
For some, that means a few days of golf and wellness in the hotel. For others, it means several weeks living in one of La Cala’s apartments, combining golf with remote working and everyday life on the Costa del Sol – with the option to stay up to three months for those who want a proper winter base.
La Cala’s hotel sits at the heart of the resort, putting guests minutes from its three 18-hole championship courses – Campo America, Campo Asia and Campo Europa – the nine-hole Short Course, Golf Hub and spa. That makes it a natural choice for a short winter break, particularly across January and February, when the Costa del Sol is at its quietest and guests can combine golf with spa treatments, hydrotherapy and fitness sessions.
For those with more time, La Cala’s two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses offer more space and independence than a hotel room, with kitchens, living areas and additional bedrooms – suited to couples, families, groups of friends, or golfers combining a longer stay with remote working. That flexibility gives guests time to properly settle into the resort and the wider Costa del Sol, playing as often as they choose.

Golfers using an extended stay to sharpen their game can also work with La Cala’s Golf Hub and Academy, including the nine-hole Par-3 Short Course, driving range and coaching supported by video analysis, FlightScope and SAM PuttLab.
Golf remains at the heart of a stay, but guests also have access to tennis and padel courts and the resort’s spa, with Marbella, Málaga and the Costa del Sol’s beaches and villages within easy reach.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho – the Ladies European Tour’s season finale – returns to Campo Europa this November, and La Cala is encouraging golfers to build a stay around it: watching the tournament itself, then playing the resort’s other courses in the days either side.

Sean Corte-Real, General Manager at La Cala Resort, said: “There’s a real appeal in continuing to play through the winter rather than putting the clubs away until spring. For some guests that’s a short break to recharge; for others, it’s a longer stay where golf becomes part of everyday life. Either way, we have the golf, the accommodation and the facilities to make it work.”
Set in the Sierra de Mijas, La Cala Resort is around 30 minutes from Málaga Airport and 20 minutes from Marbella – close enough to explore the wider Costa del Sol, or to stay within the resort for the whole trip. Its three championship courses were designed by Cabell B. Robinson; the addition of the nine-hole Short Course brought the resort’s total to 63 holes, the largest single-site golf offering in Spain.
