Shauna Fee (Blacklion) and Catriona White (Charleville) produced two superb performances to claim the All-Ireland Women’s Silver and Bronze Medals respectively on a blustery Wednesday afternoon at Headfort.
Once again, the Meath venue hosted the finals, with 80 regional qualifiers competing across both events on the historic Old Course.
In the Silver Medal final, Fee made a remarkable start, carding four net birdies and a net eagle across her opening nine holes as the Blacklion golfer turned for home at net five under par.
A net birdie at 10 continued her run before she added her sixth net birdie of the day on 13. Net bogeys on 15 and 16 threatened to open the door for the chasing pack, but Fee maintained her composure to close with her seventh net birdie of the day on 18 to sign for an impressive six under par net 67.
That proved enough for a five-shot victory over local Headfort member Orla O’Rorke, who finished runner-up with a one under par net 72.

In the Bronze Medal final, White made a steady start to her round, carding two net birdies and two net bogeys to leave the Charleville golfer at net level par heading to the turn.
White’s round truly sparked into life on the back nine as she carded net birdies on 12 and 14 before a net eagle on 16 helped her close with a superb four under par net 69, finishing three shots clear of Forrest Little’s Aoife Kelly.
“I can’t believe I’ve actually won it,” said White.
“It’s a fantastic feeling to win an All-Ireland. I’m playing golf 20 years and I saw this competition early on in the year and I said I’m going to go for it but little did I know I was going to win. It’s fabulous.”
“I didn’t actually play a practice round, we just walked up the first hole and had a look at the tenth, I wanted to be fresh for today and it just fit into place. I kept the head down, picked the target and committed to the shot.”
