It’s an all Galway Golf club duel in Turkey as Eddie McCormack and Joe Lyons battle it out for the European Senior Men’s Championship title at Cornelia Golf Club.

McCormack will take a one shot lead into the final round after a second day 71 saw him climb to two-under-par, ahead of Lyons and John Kemp.

McCormack, a 2023 champion, recovered from an early double bogey on the par-5 2nd to keep his hopes very much on track.

The Cavan native birdied the fourth and holed out for an eagle two on the par-4 7th to erase the damage and move under par for his round.

A dropped shot on 8 saw him turn in 36 but birdies on 12 and 13 suddenly opened up a two shot lead before he bogeyed the 14th.

Lyons carded a one-over 73 which included a closing double bogey but he shares second on one-under.

Lyons had bogeyed the fourth but added birdies on the 6th and 8th.

In the European Senior Women’s Alison Taylor is six shots off the pace on eight-over.
