Tom McKibbin has been added to the field for the PGA Championship this month after he received a special invitation.
McKibbin, alongside David Puig, has been granted an exemption to compete in Quail Hollow and he will make his first appearance in the event.
McKibbin’s inclusion comes just hours after Seamus Power was assured of his spot in the second major championship of the year and brings the total Irish contingent to five alongside 2012 and 2014 champion Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and 2008 winner Pádraig Harrington.
The 22-year-old competed in last year’s US Open and Open Championships, making the cut at both, but missed out on a place at this year’s Masters Tournament after moving to LIV and looked certain to miss out on the PGA Championship.
The Holywood man was inside the top-100 in the world when he moved to LIV Golf but his place in the PGA Championship was in doubt before the reprieve of an invite and he is currently ranked 115th in the world rankings.
McKibbin has registered two top-ten finishes on LIV Golf this season, winning two team titles with Legion XIII and currently ranks 22nd in the individual standings.
The move to LIV has proven to be a lucrative one for McKibbin who has won over €3m on the Saudi backed tour.
