The Amgen Irish Open will return to West Clare for the first time since 2019 with one of the strongest fields in the tournament’s recent history assembled for the island of Ireland’s national open at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Doonbeg, from September 9-13.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy will headline a world-class field as he returns to Ireland looking to successfully defend the title he claimed at The K Club last year.
The six-time Major champion and reigning Masters champion will be joined by fellow Major winners Shane Lowry, Pádraig Harrington, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Francesco Molinari, Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia, while former World Number One Luke Donald and Ryder Cup stars Tyrrell Hatton, Robert MacIntyre, Sepp Straka, Rasmus Højgaard and Nicolai Højgaard add further depth to a stellar line-up.
Recent Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo winner Joe Dean will arrive in Doonbeg in impressive form, while World Number 42 Joaquin Niemann adds further quality to the field alongside PGA Tour winner Harry Hall.
Tom McKibbin and Séamus Power will add further Irish interest to the field, while fellow Irishman Mark Power earned his place after finishing as the leading Irishman at last month’s Irish Challenge on the HotelPlanner Tour and securing the Christy O’Connor Jnr Memorial Trophy.
There are ten Irishmen in the field overall with Roscommon star Thomas Higgins set for his debut in the event as is Liam Nolan while Max Kennedy returns alongside Irish PGA champion Cormac Sharvin.
A number of established DP World Tour stars who have also been competing regularly in the United States will return to Europe for the island of Ireland’s national open, including Jordan Smith, Li Haotong, Matt Wallace and Thorbjørn Olesen. Former Ryder Cup and Rolex Series winners Bernd Wiesberger and Rafa Cabrera Bello will also tee it up, alongside former Irish Open champion Adrian Meronk.
Eugenio Chacarra arrives as a two-time winner in 2026, while Casey Jarvis and Jayden Schaper have also claimed two titles apiece this season. Alex Fitzpatrick has enjoyed a breakthrough year, winning his maiden DP World Tour title at the Hero Indian Open before also securing his first PGA Tour victory alongside his brother Matt at the Zurich Classic.
There will be a strong Danish presence, with Rasmus Højgaard, the 2024 Irish Open champion at Royal County Down, joined by his brother Nicolai and fellow Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, who claimed his maiden DP World Tour title at the Australian Open earlier this season. Jeff Winther, the latest Danish winner of his national open, will also tee it up in Doonbeg, adding further strength to the Danish contingent.
Spaniard David Puig, a winner in Australia earlier this season, adds further strength to the emerging international contingent.
With Major champions, Ryder Cup stars, former champions, in-form winners and some of the most exciting young talent in the game all converging on West Clare, the 2026 Amgen Irish Open promises to be a spectacular return to the region.
The Amgen Irish Open assumes a key position on the DP World Tour’s Global Schedule as part of the Back 9, which encompasses nine of the Tour’s most historic tournaments and national opens. It features an esteemed roll of honour of champions, including Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Harrington, Lowry, McIlroy, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal, Rahm and Sam Torrance.
