The Irish golf travel business formerly known as GreenGolfBall today begins trading as Icon Links, marking the emergence of a substantially larger international golf travel platform.

The move to Icon Links follows a period of rapid expansion. Since Escalante Golf acquired the business in June, the company has extended its operating footprint into Scotland and England, increased investment in secured tee-time inventory at high-demand courses, introduced fixed-date Signature Departures and added former European Tour professional and current Legends Tour player Gary Murphy as Brand Ambassador.

That growth is also opening new distribution channels. Icon Links was recently named the official golf travel operator for Ireland and Great Britain by Top 100 Golf Courses, the world’s largest community of traveling golfers, connecting its audience with Icon Links’ inventory, destination expertise and on-the-ground delivery across the region.

“This is a much bigger business than the one we were operating at the start of this year,” said John Bolger, General Manager of Icon Links. “We have gone from an Irish specialist to an operator running golf travel across Ireland, Scotland and England, with the resources and long-term commitment behind us to grow considerably further. Icon Links reflects where we are going: delivering access to the game’s most iconic links for discerning golfers in more thoughtful, flexible and innovative ways.”

Securing the Golf Before the Inquiry Arrives

One of the clearest changes in the business is how Icon Links sources golf. Rather than beginning the availability search only after a traveller makes an inquiry, the company is increasingly committing to tee times well in advance at many of the region’s most sought-after courses and designing trips around secured inventory.

As demand for international golf travel grows and access to marquee courses tightens, that strategy gives Icon Links greater control over product design and provides travellers and trade partners with certainty about the courses they most want to play.

“Our goal is to secure the right golf early and build the rest of the trip around it,” Bolger said. “That creates certainty for travellers, and it gives our partners access to inventory and operating capability that is becoming more valuable every season.”

One Platform, Multiple Channels

Icon Links is being built as a full-service golf travel platform. On the consumer side, bespoke journeys designed around each group remain a core part of the business. In addition, Icon Links now offers Signature Departures: fixed-date, fixed-price, small-group trips with guaranteed championship tee times, accommodations and transfers, removing the uncertainty that has long defined planning a trip to the region.

On the trade side, the same operating base supports private-club programs, PGA professional group travel, travel-advisor relationships, DMC fulfilment, and partnerships with courses, resorts and golf media.

Irish Roots, Larger Ambition

The company’s Irish foundation remains central. The local knowledge, relationships and hospitality built there over 25 years still underpin how every trip is delivered, and existing bookings, customer relationships and partner agreements continue without interruption.

“That local knowledge and those relationships remain at the heart of the company,” Bolger added. “We started with an incredibly strong foundation, and with the backing and reach we now have, Icon Links will be the operator travellers, clubs and advisers turn to first for the golf that matters most.”
