Conroy boosts pro hopes by earning PGA Tour Americas card

Enniscorthy amateur Paul Conroy earned exempt status for the North American swing of the PGA Tour Americas at Q-School.

Conroy played his last six holes in two-under-par to break into the all important top-9 on eight-under-par.

Conroy carded a final round of 69 to qualify on the number.

The Chattanooga student endured a rollercoaster final day. An opening birdie and bogey on the third was followed by an eagle on the par-5 6th and a birdie on 9.

Trouble struck with a double bogey seven on the tenth but he bounced back with a birdie on the par-3 11th before giving it back on 12.

He managed to settle down on the closing stretch, rolling in birdies on 13 and 15.

Conroy was second after the opening day where he shot a 68 and rounds of 72 and 71 had him in position heading into the final day.
