There is a waymarked woodland walkway and cycleway weaving their way through a pristine ancient woodland within the perimeter of the demesne. Some of the trees date back to over 500 hundred years. A beautifully restored walled garden provides the perfect backdrop to sit in quiet contemplation.

Some local amenities include Dunsany Castle (a short .5km from Killeen Castle), which has been re-wilded by Randal Plunkett, 21st Baron of Dunsany. With a Native Irish Black Bee Apiary and a wildlife sanctuary, this 2 hour trek with the Baron is a real treat. Watch out for greater spotted woodpeckers, otters and other wildlife along the way.

“Just back from the second of our two visits to your beautiful location. It has been a real privilege and an honour to have played the course. The fairways, greens and general appearance is WORLD CLASS and the organisation of the seniors events and all that goes with it has been simply brilliant. We went both times in the beautiful outside restaurant. The food, service and facilities were absolutely fantastic. A VERY BIG thank you to all the staff. A very memorable time spent at your wonderful location’’.
