Following a landmark 2022 which saw the launch of the world’s first International Olympic Golf Academy and the neighbouring Hills Courses, Costa Navarino moved to the next level as a golfing destination.

With two highly acclaimed courses – the Dunes Course and Bay Course – already open for a decade now, the addition of the Olympic Golf Academy and Navarino Hills – a 36 hole complex – have seen Costa Navarino take the accolade of ‘World’s Best Emerging Golf Destination’ at the 2022 World Golf Awards.

And players of all levels can begin descending on Costa Navarino next week as February 20th signals the official opening of the 2023 golfing season.

The Dunes Course – designed by Bernhard Langer – opened in 2010, with the Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Bay Course following a year later. The Hills courses were both designed by two-time Masters champion and Ryder Cup legend José María Olazábal, and occupy prime territory on the Navrino hillside, offering panoramic views of Navarino Bay and the Ionian Sea.

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino – the ideal family and sports destination – will open on February 19, along with the Mouratoglou Tennis Center as of March. The vibrant, lifestyle resort W Costa Navarino will re-open its doors on April 5, while the authentic setting of The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, will welcome its guests from April 13.

The buzzing open marketplace Navarino Agora will also make its debut in April, whilst a new Watersports Hub will further add to Costa Navarino’s diverse offering. On the gastronomy front, more than 15 new venues are set to elevate the dining experience across the destination.

Finally, summer 2023 marks the highly anticipated Greek debut of Mandarin Oriental – one of the world’s most admired hotel brands and the first to be opened in Greece – at Costa Navarino, adding to and complementing the existing premium hospitality offering.

The Navarino Agora – a buzzing, open marketplace – reopens in April. Situated between Navarino Waterfront and Navarino Bay, the vibrant Navarino Agora enriches the experience for all guests, residents, and the general public, through a wide range of retail outlets, dining venues and street food options, an open-air cinema, in addition to an exciting event programme celebrating and showcasing the local culture and traditions.

Visitors will have a range of new leisure activity options in addition to golf, with the new Watersports Hub set to open at Navarino Waterfront also opening in April, offering a wide range of water sports such as windsurfing, waterskiing, as well as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. It will also feature state of the art training equipment and tuition options.

At present, direct flights to Kalamata Airport aren’t available from Ireland, but Olympic Air – a subsidiary of Aegean Airlines – will connect Kalamata to Athens International Airport four times a week from May 19, opening multiple international connections with the Star Alliance and Aegean Airlines networks.
