Mauritius’ Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort has been recognised as the Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel at the recent World Golf Awards. The accolade coincides with Heritage Golf Club’s recent announcement of its second course, La Réserve Golf Links, due to open in December 2023.

Designed by acclaimed course architect Peter Matkovich, in collaboration with former Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen, La Réserve Golf Links will be the first and only contemporary golf links on the Indian Ocean, and will offer guests of Heritage Le Telfair privileged access to its modern clubhouse, expansive practice facilities, and academy amenities, adding to the wealth of activities already on offer at the five-star resort.

From its many elevated tee boxes and green complexes, La Réserve will offer unrivalled panoramic views of the expansive Indian Ocean, with the undulating fairways in between pockmarked with pot bunkers akin to those found on many of the finest links courses in Ireland and Scotland.

La Réserve will complement Heritage Golf Club’s existing La Chateaux course – a lush and tropical parkland beauty that has played host to multiple Mauritius Opens – with the 2023 Mauritius Open, a DP World Tour event, scheduled to be played on the Oosthuizen co-design.

Jonathan Menteath, General Manager of Heritage Golf Club, said: “The inauguration of La Réserve Golf Links will make Heritage Golf Club the only 45-hole golf destination in the Indian Ocean, and we are eager to offer members, guests of Heritage Le Telfair and Heritage Resorts residents the opportunity to play one of the world’s most exciting new courses.”

“Mauritius is evolving into a golf destination of global importance, not only attracting European golfers seeking a new challenge, but visitors from further afield, keen to blend the magic of the Indian Ocean with world-class golf,” commented Chris Frost, Managing Director of the World Golf Awards.

“Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort is the jewel in the crown of an Indian Ocean luxury golf holiday experience, and the recognition is a well-deserved award. Congratulations to the whole team,” he continued. “The eagerly anticipated La Réserve Golf Links at Heritage Golf Club, due to open at the end of 2023, will provide an undisputed reason to put Heritage on your must-visit list.”

The new 18-hole signature course at Heritage Golf Club has been carefully designed with sustainability at the forefront using native grown grass and conservation measures, contributing towards future GEO Certified Development status, the global standard for sustainable course design and construction.

This approach continues Heritage Golf Club’s commitment to preserve the 2,500-hectare Bel Ombre estate, located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, while offering five-star service and amenities, be it at its beach resorts: Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort and Heritage Awali Golf & Spa, a luxury, all-inclusive resort ideal for families, and its collection of high-end real estate nestled in unspoiled countryside.
