Four teams advance to AIG Cups and Shields All-Ireland Finals

K Club, Athy, Elm Park and Nenagh all booked their spots in AIG All-Ireland Cups and Shields Finals on Friday at Limerick GC.

In the AIG Women’s Intermediate Cup Semi-Finals, K Club will meet Athy after the two sides defeated Royal Tara and Loughrea 3.5-1.5 respectively. K Club’s Carol Barry impressed with a 6&5 win in her Semi-Final match, as did Athy’s Mary Mahon who won 6&5.

In the AIG Men’s Pierce Purcell Shield Semi-Finals, Elm Park defeated Westmanstown in an all-Dublin tie, while Nenagh got the better of Tipperary rivals Thurles. Nenagh won their top three matches to advance to the Final as Padraig Hackett and David McGrath impressed with a 6&5 win.

Elm Park won their bottom three matches, including a 4&3 win for Paul O’Reilly and John O’Gorman, as the Dublin side look to win another All-Ireland title after last week’s AIG Men’s Barton Shield triumph in Shandon Park.

In the AIG Women’s Junior Cup, Ardee, Newlands, Galway Bay and Tullamore all advance to the Semi-Finals on Saturday.

Saturday sees the Finals in the AIG Women’s Intermediate Cup and the AIG Men’s Pierce Purcell Shield. The AIG Women’s Junior Cup reaches the Semi-Final stage, while the AIG Men’s Junior Cup begins at the Quarter-Final stages
