Castlewarden’s Lauren Walsh was among three players from the Wake Forest women’s golf team to be selected by the league office to the 15-player 2021 All-ACC Team; the fourth consecutive year the Deacs have had two or more selections.
Senior Siyun Liu and sophomores Rachel Kuehn and Walsh earned the honour off the back of a third-place finish at the ACC Championships in Greensboro two weeks ago where Kuehn was the third-place medallist. Liu finished three strokes behind Kuehn in fifth place and Walsh finished in a tie for 11th.
Kuehn and Walsh lead the team with a 71.23 stroke average each and all three Deacs have competed in the line-up for Wake Forest at every team event this season. All five of Walsh’s finishes have come inside the top 20, all five of Kuehn’s finishes have come inside the top 26, and Liu has had four top 15 finishes in five events.
Wake Forest is currently ranked No. 3 in the latest GolfStat ranking and was selected as the No. 1 seed at the Stanford Regional on Wednesday afternoon. NCAA Regionals will be May 10-12 in Stanford, California.
Duke University Head Coach Dan Brooks was tabbed ACC Coach of the Year for the 16th time by a vote of the head coaches.
