Cork man John Murphy kept up his good form at the Azalea Invitational as he fired an eagle, one birdie and three bogeys in a second round of 71.

Murphy, who has been a regular in the University of Louisville line-up of late, started brightly in round two at the Country Club of Charleston as he eagled the par-5 fifth hole to move to three-under par for the tournament.

He then bogeyed the 10th which dented his hopes, but a birdie on 14 got him back to three-under before two late bogeys on 16 and 18 dropped him to one-under for the tournament and into a share of 15th place.

Heading to the third round Murphy trails US Amateur Champion, Georgia Tech’s Tyler Strafaci by six shots after he added a second round 68 to his opening 67 tally.
