Tourism NI has released a video showcasing Northern Ireland’s world class golf courses alongside positive messages to future visitors from golf club managers, golf pros, Northern Ireland personalities and even a certain Irish popstar!

This video showcases the passion behind Northern Ireland’s golf sector and features messages from Niall Horan, Rory Best, James Nesbitt and TV presenter Stephen Watson. Northern Ireland is ‘Made for Golf’ and is the home of world class courses, golfers and events.

Niall Horan commented “I am very excited when this is all over to get back to Ireland and have a few rounds of golf and head up to the North Coast and Galgorm Castle, a little place I love to play golf. I can’t wait”.

James Nesbitt in Portrush “We are delighted that golf has returned but of course we miss all our friends and international visitors who make golf the community and fun that it is. We look forward to welcoming you all back when the time is safe”.

Rory Best; “We are missing you at the minute, we know you love your golf as much as I do. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Don’t forget about the unbelievable courses that we have here and the world class hospitality, in the meantime please stay safe.”

Commenting on the video, Leanne Rice, Golf Marketing Manager at Tourism NI said:

“This video showcases the passion behind Northern Ireland’s golf sector. Northern Ireland is ‘Made for Golf’ and is the home of world class courses, golfers and events. Golf is much more than just a sport to us, it is a community that brings people together internationally. This was particularly celebrated at The 148th Open last July when almost 240,000 spectators attended the Championship at Royal Portrush.

“Golf visitors are worth over £52 million to our economy annually. With almost 50% of golf tourism income coming from North America alone, our golf clubs and wider sector have been significantly affected by the pandemic and are missing their visitors.

“We were thrilled to showcase so many familiar faces in this video dedicated to the love of golf and we all look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy our fantastic golf product.”

Tourism NI look forward to welcoming visitors from the Republic of Ireland to our world class courses when it is safe to travel again.

Golf is open for golf members and member guests only at present and courses are not open fully to visitors just yet. To whet your appetite, here’s the video:
