Gavin Moynihan achieved a long-standing ambition by blitzing his way around Corballis Golf Links in just 58 strokes to join the 50’s club on Wednesday.

The course famous for its Race to 59 winter series has been a regular haunt of the European Tour player whose game looks to be in razor sharp nick ahead of a hopeful return to competitive play over the coming weeks.

Moynihan was throwing darts on a perfect day for golf in Dublin, landing six birdies and an eagle ‘2’ at the par-4 seventh en route to the magic number.

“Finally done it at Corballis Links,” he tweeted. “Been close a few times the last few years/months. #50’sClub”

The score may have been achieved in casual play on the par-66 layout but anyone who’s played the links will know such a score is no mean feat regardless of conditions and it should fill Moynihan with untold confidence ahead of a return to Tour fairways very soon.
