The R&A and EGA have cancelled the St Andrews Trophy at Royal Porthcawl on 23-24 July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The match has been cancelled based on the advice provided by the UK Government and health authorities, as well as The R&A’s own medical consultants.

The St Andrews Trophy will next be played at Penati Golf Resort in Slovakia on 21-22 July 2022.

Duncan Weir, Executive Director – Golf Development and Amateur Championships at The R&A, said, “We made this decision to protect the health and wellbeing of the players and everyone involved in the St Andrews Trophy and it is the right thing to do. We are grateful to Royal Porthcawl for the club’s support and understanding. We look forward to playing the next match in Slovakia.”

Haukur Örn Birgisson, President of the EGA, said, “The EGA is disappointed not to be able to bring its team to Royal Porthcawl in 2020 but we look forward to welcoming Great Britain and Ireland to the Continent for the match in 2022.”
