Douglas’ big-hitting Peter O’Keeffe landed his first Irish Mid-Amateur Championship title at Royal Belfast on Sunday.

The Corkonian had put himself in position A after firing rounds of 68 and 70 on Saturday and determined to finish the job, O’Keeffe made no mistake, posting a final round of 71 to pip France’s Christophe De Grancey and Warrenpoint’s Colm Campbell by a single stroke.

“Irish Mid Amateur Champion 2019,” tweeted O’Keeffe. “I must be getting old.”
