Leinster loomed large on day two of the Interprovincial Championship as they took full control at Tullamore Golf Club.
Having eased past Ulster on day one, Leinster made light work of defending champions Munster today too, powering by a helpless Munster challenge 8.5-2.5 in a dominant display.
In truth, the morning foursomes proved Munster’s undoing as Leinster swept all with a commanding 4-0 morning session win before Robert Moran, Keith Egan and Rob Brazill’s singles victories eased the eastern province over the line.
Leinster go into Friday’s final round as the only unbeaten side in the competition after Connacht came out on the wrong side of a tight battle against Ulster today.
Leading by a point heading into the afternoon singles just as they had done on day one, Connacht again looked to be in the ascendency before an afternoon onslaught from Ulster turned the tide.
Crucial wins for Tiarnan McLarnon, Colm Campbell, William Hall and Jordan Hood changed the game as Ulster came out on the right side of today’s thriller, 6-5. It now falls on Connacht to prevent a Leinster clean sweep in tomorrow’s final round.
Three in a row champions from 2015 to 2017, the home side will be eager to regain their trophy after Munster triumphed 12 months ago.
