Malahide’s Alison Taylor was top of the class as the Irish Senior Women’s Close Championship moved into the match play rounds at Naas.

Taylor fired rounds of 75 and 72 over 36-holes of stroke play for a three-over par tally and heads into Thursday’s last-16 match as the number one seed. Her reward? Far from an easy contest when she meets fellow Irish International, Gertie McMullen from The Island golf club in the match-up of the round.

Meanwhile, Suzanne Corcoran’s bid for three-in-a-row remains right on track after the Portumna golfer advanced to the match play stages in what will be another fierce contest. Corcoran faces fellow Irish International, Pat Doran in the first round.

Milltown’s Deirdre Walsh qualified second to Taylor with her total of 150 while two-time Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, Laura Webb qualified third.

The second flight of match play also begins tomorrow where qualifiers 17 – 32 will play for the Plate.
