€25,000 was raised in aid of the ‘Beyond the Moon’ children’s charity as international hospitality company, Prem Group hosted its annual charity golf event at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort.

Over 40 teams of four people teed off at the Prem Group owned, Tulfarris raising much needed funds for Beyond the Moon, a children’s charity which helps raise funds to send children with life threatening illnesses and their families on a much-needed holiday.

Although Beyond the Moon has its headquarters in Belgium, it operates across Europe to allow families to spend as much carefree time with their sick child whilst getting the support of medical professionals. Prem Group has been supporting Beyond the Moon for 14 years and in that time has raised over €200,000 to send 44 families on the holiday of a lifetime.  Of the 44 families who have previously benefited from Beyond the Moon, 26 of those families were from Ireland.

Beyond the Moon offers families with a seriously ill child the opportunity to enjoy a memorable, cost-free holiday in a child-friendly environment and to spend carefree quality time together, far away from hospitals and treatments. The charity operates on the ethos that every child should get the chance to be a child and enjoy life. These family vacations offer hope, love and support to families who need it most. Beyond the Moon wish to brighten up the often dark and painful days that families with a sick child endure.

The charity collaborates with renowned companies, foundations, schools and clubs to organise memorable holidays for these sick children. It works closely with professors, doctors and other healthcare professionals in various hospitals and hospices across Europe, who send applications spontaneously or at Beyond the Moon’s request on behalf of families of the sick children.

This year’s edition of the golf classic also featured golf clinics with Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort’s, Touring Professional, Simon Thornton who played a hole with each team as they went around. In attendance was co-founder and manager of Beyond the Moon, Pascale Somers, Ambassador of Beyond the Moon in Belgium, Lut Wille and Godmother of Beyond the Moon since 2009, Gella Vandecaveye.

Gella Vandecaveye is a judo expert from Belgium who competed at four Olympic Games and holds two Olympic medals for Belgium. Beyond the Moon ambassadors such as Gella and Lut work on a voluntary basis to broaden the charities network in order to increase and promote awareness for Beyond the Moon.

CEO of Prem Group, Jim Murphy said, “We have been running this golf classic in aid of Beyond the Moon for 14 years and have raised over €200,000 for this inspirational charity. The holidays which are organised by Beyond the Moon are extremely important, not only to the sick child and the parents, but to the other siblings in the family.

“Beyond the Moon gives those families a chance to enjoy life and to spend quality time with their children. Essentially, the charity allows kids to be kids. We would like to thank all our sponsors and partners and we would like to pay tribute to the employees at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort, some of which even gave their time for free to work here today for the charity. Also, we would like to acknowledge the resort itself who provided the use of the course here today at no cost in order to maximise funds for the charity.  This year we are proud to say that Prem Group has raised over €25,000 for the Beyond the Moon charity which will help families to take a well-deserved holiday together.”
