Mizuno’s new putter doesn’t look low-torque, and it doesn’t balance like a typical one either. The newest neck option to the modular Mizuno M.Craft X putter line, the M.Craft X Z, orients the shaft directly through the CG of the putter, ensuring the putter balances exactly where you hold it instead of wanting to return to toe-up. This creates what the company calls a truly zero-torque design.
This is now the fourth neck option in the M.Craft X family and Mizuno is also introducing two new back-piece shapes — the 2, a Triple-Wide shape that should appeal to blade users; and the 3, a Dome-Mallet shape with additional alignment features. Like the rest of the family, the new neck and back pieces are interchangeable with the existing options, bringing the total number of combinations to 20.
Built around an interchangeable design system, M.CRAFT X allows golfers to create a setup tailored to their stroke, visual preferences and performance needs with interchangeable neck designs, back designs, and weight configurations, golfers can fine-tune feel, balance, toe hang, alignment, and appearance.
Each component is engineered to work seamlessly within the system, providing extensive fitting versatility without compromising the feel and craftsmanship expected from Mizuno. The latest addition is Mizuno’s new Z-Neck, introducing a different approach to Zero Torque performance. The Z-Neck is engineered so the shaft axis passes directly through the putter’s centre of gravity, helping minimise twisting forces throughout the stroke and encouraging the face to stay square to the path. The result is Zero Torque performance while retaining the feel, feedback and traditional shaping associated with Mizuno putters.
The expanded M.CRAFT X line-up also introduces two new back designs, bringing the family to five interchangeable options. Each has been engineered to provide a distinct look at address and different alignment characteristics, giving golfers more ways to frame the ball and match the putter to their eye while retaining the same forged foundation. Together, these additions expand the M.CRAFT X platform to four distinct neck designs, five interchangeable back designs, and three weight configurations, giving golfers even more freedom to build a putter around their stroke and preferences.
Every M.CRAFT X begins with a one-piece forged face and neck crafted from 1025E mild carbon steel, producing the soft, responsive impact sensation synonymous with Mizuno. The face is then precision CNC milled to ensure consistency across the striking surface, helping deliver dependable roll, predictable speed control, and precise feedback. A precision-milled aluminium back structure complements the forged steel front section, allowing weight to be strategically positioned throughout the head to increase stability and forgiveness. This multi-material construction enables M.CRAFT X to combine the responsive feel and control of a blade with the added stability of a mallet.
The expanded M.CRAFT X gives golfers greater freedom to fine-tune their setup while retaining the craftsmanship, feel and precision that define Mizuno. The addition of the new Z-Neck further broadens the platform, bringing Zero Torque performance into the interchangeable M.CRAFT X system.
Mizuno’s new M.Craft X Z putter and 2 and 3 are available for pre-order now and will arrive at retail locations on Oct. 30. As with the other M.Craft X putters, the new Z-neck style will cost €429, and you can purchase just the new 2 and 3 front piece (€289) or back pieces for €100 each with additional weights available for €40 each. The Z models come with 1 degree of integrated shaft lean and come as standard with a matching SuperStroke TLT Pistol 1.0 grip.
