Cobra Golf have introduced its new family of Darkspeed drivers for 2024 with three new heads optimised for speed and forgiveness with the Darkspeed LS, Darkspeed X, and Darkspeed MAX.

Each of the Darkspeed drivers feature a unique aero shaping and tailored weight configuration to optimise performance for the target player for which they are designed. All three Darkspeed drivers feature a host of familiar Cobra tech with some great advancements on last years Aerojet models. The three head options feature an updated multi material chassis with lightweight carbon crown and sole plate as well as a reinforced titanium frame to create optimal weight distribution and maximum stability. The carbon fibre crown is 30% thinner allowing more weight to be placed low and forward in the PWR-BRIDGE structure.

The A.I. designed PWR-BRIDGE weighting features a suspended weight that is positioned lower and more forward, resulting in faster ball speed. A 13% larger PWRSHELL face insert with A.I. designed H.O.T. Face Technology maximises speed across the hitting area. The face design is optimised using machine learning to increase ball speed efficiency and smash factor.

Darkspeed LS

The Darkspeed LS is aimed at the fastest swingers who need lower spin and more shot shaping control, and is designed with the highest rear skirt height, a higher crown peak, and a more compact address profile. Within the LS family, COBRA also offers an 8-degree model, which is an evolution of a long drive prototype head used by Kyle Berkshire. The 8-degree model features a visibly smaller and even more aerodynamic head shape, promising extreme speed for the most powerful players.

The weight that was saved with the new sole and crown design was repurposed as a 12-gram weight and two 3-gram weights. The weights can be fixed into any of the three ports, with two ports designed into the front of the sole and one in the back. When the 12-gram weight is in the front, it pushes the centre of gravity forward, encouraging a lower launch and less spin. It also allows players to set up the club with a slight draw or fade bias. When the 12-gram weight is in the back, the spin rate increases, the launch angle goes up slightly and the Darkspeed LS becomes more stable.

Darkspeed X

The Darkspeed X model, which is aimed at the widest range of players, looking for a combination of ball speed and forgiveness, features a medium rear skirt height and streamlined shape. The X model features a back weight and a second front weight position allowing players to optimise ball flight.

Darkspeed MAX

The Darkspeed MAX model, which is aimed at players who require the most forgiveness and/or a draw bias, features the lowest skirt height and the highest MOI of the three models. The advanced aero shaping found in all three drivers reduces drag and enables golfers of all abilities to achieve the fastest speed possible. The MAX model features ports in the rear and heel of the sole. Players can position the 12g weight in the back for the highest MOI and forgiveness, or in the heel for the most draw bias.

“The aerodynamic package in the new Darkspeed family of drivers is our most advanced to date,” said Mike Yagley, Vice President of Innovation, Cobra Golf. “We continue to push aerodynamic shaping, mass properties and resilience to drive technology and innovation, providing golfers the most advanced and high-performance clubs possible.”

The new Darkspeed driver family also feature the Cobra MyFly 8 with SmartPad technology, which allows for exceptionally quick and easy loft and lie adjustability. The MyFly 8 adjustable loft system enables users to adjust loft up to +1 or -1 degrees. Designed to work in conjunction with MyFly8, SmartPad technology maintains a consistent face angle for each of the eight different sleeve settings, ensuring a square club head at address.
