It was the type of weekend Irish golf fans have been waiting for; a Rory McIlroy win, tri-colours in contention in Europe and the cream of the amateur crop rising to the challenge on arguably the biggest stage in the unpaid ranks. We dive deep into the Wells Fargo where McIlroy was a worthy winner and ask the question, is he a Major player once more? We also have the takeaways from Tenerife where Niall Kearney grabbed a career-best finish on the European Tour. We look back at a super weekend of amateur action at Seminole where John Murphy and Mark Power played leading roles for GB&I and there’s plenty in between too, from Darren Clarke and Michael Hoey to a lengthy villains’ list and a look ahead to a potential Irish Open with fans. As always, we hope you enjoy the listen. Let us know what you think, and if it’s good, don’t forget to subscribe.

So you said you haven’t had much to shout about on Irish golf this year – does the performances of Maguire and Meadows not count because they are ladies…..didn’t even mention them. Come on lads!

Ah John, Do you not listen to the pod much ? We have had weeks of only female content both on the pod and in print and digital formats. We dedicate more column inches to the ladies/girls game than all others combined in the Irish Golf space and have done for years. That coupled with the fact neither were playing this week. Oh and if you want to make an argument get her name right at least, its Meadow!
