What a day it was for Paul McBride yesterday. The amateur from The Island Golf Club in North Dublin, playing on an invitation at the Porsche Open on the European Tour shot two under par and currently sits in a tie for 31st place.

McBride carded four birdies and two bogeys in his round and is just four shots adrift of the leaders Julian Sure (USA) and Richard McEvoy (England).

It’s a top class field at the event with players Charl Schwartzel & Alexander Levy sitting on -5 and America’s Patrick Reed is on -4.  Of Ireland’s other participants in the event, Paul Dunne is currently on +2 after an opening 74, with Chris Selfridge on +3 and Michael Hoey on +7 all outside the projected cut mark of -1.
