Galgorm Resort & Spa has become the new Title Sponsor of the Northern Ireland Open presented by Modest! Golf to further enhance its long-standing relationship with one of the best supported events on the European schedule.

Galgorm Resort & Spa has been a partner of the NI Open from the beginning and now the award-winning hotel has elevated its commitment to become the new Title Sponsor for what promises to be another exciting staging of Northern Ireland’s national annual professional golf tournament, which showcases Northern Ireland’s golf tourism offering to a global audience.

“We’re delighted to extend our relationship with the NI Open in becoming their title sponsor this year.  We already work closely together and this underlines our relationship and the Resort’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of golf in Northern Ireland,” explains Paul Smyth, Galgorm Resort & Spa Managing Director.

“We believe that the tournament can raise international awareness of the Ballymena Borough and Northern Ireland and illustrates that Northern Ireland can compete on the global stage.  We are looking forward to welcoming players and spectators alike to the Galgorm Resort & Spa NI Open presented by Modest! Golf for what I am sure will be its most successful year.”

Galgorm Resort & Spa already enjoys a global reputation for excellence and is consistently rated as one of the best hotels in the country. It comes as no surprise Galgorm Resort & Spa was named Hotel of the Year at the 2016 Northern Ireland Tourism Awards and was Large Golf Hotel of the Year winner at the 2016 Ireland Golf Tour Operator Association (IGTOA) Awards. This combined with the numerous other wedding, dining and spa awards demonstrates that excellence comes as standard.

“Galgorm Resort & Spa becoming the new NI Open Title Sponsor is wonderful news. They have been with us every step of the way and through their commitment they have helped us grow the NI Open into one of the most exciting events in world golf,” explains Gary Henry, NI Open Event Director.

“Galgorm Resort & Spa is the perfect fit for us, located just over one mile away from the Home of the NI Open; it is the ideal base to explore the many great golf courses across Northern Ireland.”

Belfast is less than 30 minutes away and en route to Royal County Down in Newcastle, while the north Antrim coast is only a short distance where Portstewart (host club of the 2017 Irish Open) and Royal Portrush (2019 Open Championship venue) are just some of the many great courses to play. Galgorm Resort & Spa is also the Preferred Hotel Supplier for this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, hosted by the Rory Foundation. The resort can cater for the ultimate park and ride experience with two new helipads on site.

Alain de Soultrait, Challenge Tour Director, said: “Galgorm Resort & Spa has been a great supporter of this event for a number of years so it is entirely fitting that they are now becoming the Title Sponsor.

“This is a great step for the tournament to be taking and adds to what is already set to be a fantastic week when the Challenge Tour returns to Northern Ireland in August.”

This year’s NI Open will be another occasion for all the family with exciting activities taking place across the estate during tournament week. Galgorm Resort & Spa plan to introduce a new gin festival to this year’s tournament to showcase one of the most popular trends within the NI food and drink sector.

When the day’s golf and activities have come to an end there are few better places to kick back and relax than The Thermal Spa Village at Galgorm before enjoying a meal at any of the resort’s excellent restaurants.

Entry to the NI Open is FREE, simply register for your free tickets online at www.niopen.golf or download the NI Open app.
