Team Ireland have been crowned 2026 Tri-Nations Champions following a composed two-day performance at the Vale Resort in Wales.
Ireland delivered consistent results across all matches to retain the trophy they first collected at the inaugural event in 2024 held at Stackstown Golf Club.
This year’s Tri-Nations Cup brought together golfers with a disability from Ireland, Wales and Scotland on the Vale Resort National Course, a championship layout known for its wide fairways, strategic bunkering and demanding green complexes.
Arriving in Wales as defending champions, Ireland approached the event with clear focus and preparation. Across both days, the team secured key points in tight matches, dominating the scoring.
Under the competition format, the best Stableford score in each three-ball earned three points, with two points for the second-best score and one point for the third. The structure rewarded steady scoring and every player in the squad contributed points. When the final results were compiled Ireland finished with 52 points, Wales 39 points and Scotland 29 points.
Team Ireland: Philip Quearney, Shane Keogh, Conal Flynn, Cian Arthurs, Paul Kelly, Cathy Fitzgerald, Caolan Munnelly, Martin McGrath, Kevin Cassidy and Martin O’Mahoney.
Ireland’s support team — including Captain Shane Munnelly and Vice-Captains Trish Galvin and Kathrina Murray — played a key role in maintaining momentum, providing guidance and ensuring players were ready for each session.
Team Ireland extend their thanks to the Vale Resort for hosting an excellent event and providing a welcoming environment for all players and officials. Appreciation is also extended to Team Wales and Team Scotland for their sportsmanship, competitive spirit and the strong relationships that continue to grow between the three nations.
