Sam Murphy shrugged off DP World Tour Q-School disappointment and goes into the final round of the Alps Tour’s Longwy Open in a share of third place.
The Portumna man missed out on qualification to Second Stage of DP World Tour Q-School by a single shot at The Players Club in Bristol last week, but a five-under 67 saw him make a big move up the leaderboard in France.
After starting his season in style and winning the Elin Bay Open in Egypt in what was also his first professional start, Murphy has slipped down the Alps Tour rankings and currently lies 18th.
He trails leader Alexandre Vandermoten by six shots, but only Alberto Dominguez of Spain at -9 sits between Murphy and the Frenchman.
Stephen Grant was the only other Irishman to make the cut and the amateur shares 18th place at -3, with Hugh Foley, Mark Boucher and Robert Moran all missing out.
