It was a day of ups and downs for Elm Park’s Anna Foster and the 24-year-old ultimately couldn’t add to her two top-10 finishes on the Ladies European Tour, as she went five-over through six holes on the back nine to drop to T12 at a windy Hulencourt Women’s Open in Belgium.

Starting the final round in a share of sixth, Foster got off to a hot start by making birdies at the first and second to let set the tone early. She did slip up at the par-3 fifth but still took the turn in good shape at one-under.

Next up was the par-5 10th and the second-year pro took full advantage on the longer hole, playing it flawlessly and making eagle to really get in amongst the top of the leaderboard.

Unfortunately for Foster, this was short lived as she would go on to really struggle over the next few holes, making three bogeys and a double bogey to drop right down the leaderboard and out of the top-10.

Though deflated, she regrouped and dusted it off before teeing up at the 18th to finish with a bang and that she did – making birdie to post a one-over-par 73 and finish her weeks work in T12 at one-under.

Foster may have been hoping for more when she woke up on Sunday morning but a T12 finish does help her standings in the Order of Merit as she now jumps to 58th.

Carolina Chacarra, an LET rookie, earned her first win as the 23-year-old posted a bogey-free four-under round to win by three strokes with a score of 12-under.

“The day went great and I’m so happy,” the Spanish rookie said. “No bogeys, some nice birdies, everything was great.”

“I was definitely nervous, especially the last three holes. I had a little bit of adrenaline so I was telling my caddie we needed to take some metres off the yardage. But it was great. My goal was just to enjoy the week and try to get into the Scottish Open. So to win is amazing and I’m very happy,” she added.

Australia’s Kelsey Bennett secured second place with a final score of nine-under. Bennett had a two stroke lead heading into the final round but a one-over-par 73 on Sunday will be a tough one to take. This is Bennett’s second runner-up finish of season after she lost in a playoff to Anna Huang at the Lalla Meryem Cup in May.

India’s Aditi Ashok placed third at seven-under, followed by Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux and England’s Bronte Law who took T4 at four-under.

Next up on the LET is a trip to the magnificent Evian Resort in France for the fourth Major of the year, The Amundi Evian Championship. Play gets underway on Thursday July 9 at the foot of the French Alps.
