Annabel Wilson is just four shots off the lead with 18 holes to go in the LET’s Aramco Korea Championship at New Korea Country Club after a two-under 72 which leaves her on level-par.

Scoring has proved particularly tough at the Goyang course, with steady downpours accomapnied by a stiffish breeze, and after 36 holes of the 54-hole event, just 11 players are in red figures.

Castlerock LET rookie Wilson is making just her sixth LET start and has a best finish of tied for 20th at the Investec SA Women’s Open, but she’s on course to better that and could even become the second Irish woman after Leona Maguire to secure a victory on the premier European women’s circuit if she can hold her nerve in what is sure to be another stiff test on Sunday morning.

Despite bogeying her second hole, she regrouped to card five birdies in the next 11 holes and push her way inside the top 10 only for two closing bogeys to take some of the gloss off what was otherwise a superb round of golf.

She’ll face a tough task in tracking down solo leader Hyo Joo Kim who will enjoy healthy support from her fellow native Koreans. The 2014 Evian Championship winner is one of just two players to have broken par in each of the opening two rounds, and she enjoys a one-stroke lead over South African Lee-Anne Pace who carded rounds of 70 and 71.

Lauren Walsh shot a level-par 72 to climb into a tie for 32nd at +3, while Anna Foster followed her 75 with a 74 to sit on +5 and sharing 48th.

Wilson will play in the fourth-to-last group on Sunday morning alongside Sweden’s Johanna Wrigley and Polly Mack of Germany, and they are due to get underway at 12:39 local time (04:39 Irish time) and you can follow the action live on Sky Sports from 06:30 am.
