After a round where everything seemed to click for Séamus Power on day one of the PGA Tour’s Myrtle Beach Classic, the opposite was true on day two as the Waterford man was completely out of sorts.

Having ranked 12th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee on day one, his troubles all started with wayward driving on day two, carding bogeys on 11, 13 and 14 following missed fairways with a penalty shot incurred on the par-5 13th.

Another bogey followed on the par-3 17th, before he finally opened his birdie account on 18. Sadly, it would be his last birdie of the day, and two more bogeys on the front side saw him fall from a tie for second after day one to a tie for 58th on day two, just making the 36-hole cut by the minimum.

Mackenzie Hughes continues to lead the way, but he’s now got company in the form of Cristobal Del Solar who carded a 67 to Hughes’ 69 to join him at -10.

A further five that includes Harry Higgs and Nick Watney are a shot further back at -9, but Power’s main aim now will be to try to claw his way back up and gain valuable FedEx Cup points with the likelihood of a first PGA Tour win since the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Classic all but gone.
