Shane Lowry is the most high profile name at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour as he ramps up his Masters Tournament preparations by playing his fourth successive week.

Such a name probably means more of a spotlight and he has certainly felt that when it comes to the tournament referees at Laguna National Golf Club.

The Clara man has been feeling the heat as he battles the searing temperatures in Singapore but he has also felt the pressure from the referees, with Lowry seemingly unable to avoid their gaze this week.

Speaking in the Green Room on Sky Sports – a golfers version of a concessional where players sit in a tight space and answer questions about their day – Lowry was in good form and could afford a quick quip about the tournament referees putting him on the clock at times this week.

Shane Lowry’s Green Room Interview post round 3

Q: Hi Shane, how are you doing today?

SL: I am tired and sweaty. Hot. Haven’t had much sleep.

Q: How was it out there?

SL: Hard to complain about a 66 but when the longest put your hole is about six or seven feet, it could be a lot better. But it is what it is. I just hope I can do better tomorrow.

Q: You’ve traveled quite a way this week. How have you been handling the transition?

SL: I’ve been awake at about 3am, probably 3 or 4am every morning, getting to bed about 10 o’clock trying to go to bed as late as I can, so I’ll sleep but that hasn’t been working. So I’m very sleep deprived this week. But it was my decision to come here so I can’t really blame anyone but myself.

Q: What’s a highlight and a low light of the round today?

SL: Highlight on my round. I holes a wedge shot today from I think it was 90-ish yards, 95 yards and then my lowlight, there weren’t many lowlights actually which was nice, was probably my bogey at the last. If you had got me this time yesterday I would have been in worse form than this. So I’m pretty happy with my day’s work.

Q: Is there anything else you want to get off your chest today?

SL: I feel like the referees are following me all week (laughs). Probably shouldn’t be saying this. I feel like I’ve been on the clock a lot this week, which is not me. I obviously don’t think it’s me. We’ve been in a few but bad spots. But I’ve been on the clock a lot, which is not what I’m used to.
