Royal Dublin star Max Kennedy has secured a precious start in the $4m Myrtle Beach Classic on the PGA Tour in May after he claimed his second collegiate title.

Kennedy got up and down on the last to secure a one shot win at the General Hackler Championship after a final round of 69.

It was a double celebration as Kennedy’s eight-under total helped the University of Louisville to the team title and their first win since his win at the Aggie Invitational eleven months ago.

The 21-year-old eagled the par-5 third hole and birdies the fourth before recovering from his only bogey of the day with a birdie on the par-5 15th.

Roganstown’s Patrick Keeling placed 67th.

The Myrtle Beach Classic will be played at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club from May 9-12, opposite the $20 million Quail Hollow Championship, which is a signature event.

This won’t be Kennedy’s first professional start having already played in the ISPS HANDA event in Galgorm Castle before acquitting himself well in Dubai when he narrowly missed out on the final round of the LIV qualifier.
