Kate Lanigan battled valiantly on day one of the R&A Student Tour Series event at Le Golf National in France as she grabbed a share of the lead.
Lanigan carded a two-over 74 to share the overnight advantage with Lorna McClymont.
The Maynooth University star carded just five pars in her opening round which included six birdies and a double bogey and she and McClymont are two shots clear of Hanna Wilson.
Ellen O’Gorman is in a share of tenth place on +10 while Kate Dwyer is five shots further back.
Meanwhile, in the men’s section Maynooth University students Liam Abom and Jordan Boles are three shots off the pace on level-par after rounds of 71.
Eoin Murphy, Ryan Griffin and Allan Hill are one shot further back on +1 and four shots off the early pace.
