17-year-old Douglas amateur Sean Reddy signed off on an extremely good week at the Toro Tour’s Villa Padierna Flamingos event by taking first place in the amateur category and losing out in a playoff in the overall standings.

Back-to-back rounds of 70 were followed by a one-over 72 in the third and final round for an overall one-under tally that saw him finish two shots clear of Swede August Petersson with fellow Irishmen David O’Malley and Jake Foley taking third and fifth place respectively.

A birdie at the par-3 16th saw him take the outright lead, but unfortunately for Reddy, a final-hole bogey saw him finish tied with Germany’s Florian Moosmeier, after the former Lousiana State student and current professional strung together a final-round of 71. Moosmeier would go on to take overall victory in a playoff.

This was the final event on the Andalucían-based Winter development tour, and Reddy came desperately close to joining Irish pros Ronan Mullarney and Stuart Grehan as outright tournament winners.

O’Malley finished fifth in the overall standings with Jake Foley two further back in seventh in a field that also included Mark Gazi, Jamie Foley, Cathal MacCanna and Conal Keenan.
