Leona Maguire finds herself in contention heading into the weekend for the second straight tournament at the Honda LPGA Thailand.

Maguire fired a second round of 67 to move to seven-under-par and just three shots off the lead at the halfway stage.

Starting on the tenth, the Cavan woman carded birdies on 12, 14 and 18 with her only bogey of the day coming on the 13th.

A birdie on the first made it back-to-back either side of the turn and the 29-year-old finished well with a brace of birdies on the seventh and eighth holes.

She lies in a share of tenth place with eyes set firmly on tracking down leaders Sei Young Kim, Madelene Sagstrom and Patty Tavatanakit who lead on ten-under.

Sagstrom and Tavatanakit have both carded successive rounds of 67 while Kim backed up an opening 66 with a 68.

After winning for the first time in three years last week in Saudi Arabia, Tavatanakit is looking to make it back-to-back wins with a special victory on home soil.

“Yeah, it was a really solid day again today. I feel like putts were rolling in earlier during the round, which helped a lot. Got a little stalled on the back nine, but managed to score on the par-5s, which really happy about it,” said the Thai star.

“I hit it solid all back nine, just leaving myself a really tough putt just because of the hole location. Overall, like my game fields solid. Putting strokes feel great. They are tough putts, so whoever makes it just earned there way into the leaderboard today.”
