Leona Maguire begins her second of three successive events as she heads to Chonburi for the Honda LPGA Thailand, looking to improve on an encouraging performance in Saudi Arabia last week.

Maguire settled for T29 in Riyadh but felt shortchanged after an impressive display from tee to green went unrewarded.

Maguire opened with a 76 on day one despite hitting 15 greens in regulation, she found all 18 on day two in a superb 64 but struggled for momentum over the weekend.

Despite finishing 18 shots behind runaway winner Patty Tavatanakit, she is confident her game is heading in the right direction as she turns her attention towards the first major of the year in April.

“I felt like I hit a lot of good shots and was punished, I feel good with where my game is at and I’m looking forward to two more events to get back into the swing of things,” she said.

“I played some nice golf on the LPGA Tour it wasn’t all clicking together so this will be a good test to see how things are going ahead of the run into the majors starting with the Chevron in a couple of months.

“The summer will be absolutely hectic that’s where you want to be playing your best golf, the first half of the year is trying to do as well as I can in every event but you’re fine tuning everything to get into working order by the time the summer rolls around.”

World Number One Lilia Vu defends her title which was her maiden triumph on the LPGA Tour.

The victory would become a springboard to a breakout season that would see Vu win three more times, including two major titles at The Chevron Championship and AIG Women’s Open, in addition to her win at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, and earn her Rolex Player of the Year honours.
