The Maynooth University Golf team are in Bahrain this week for the fifteenth King Hamad Trophy at Royal Golf Club as they look to punch a ticket to the DP World Tour in the New Year.

David Kitt (Athenry), Eoin Murphy (Dundalk), Alex King (Faithlegg) and Simon Walker (Roscommon) are part of a four-man squad headed by Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship Manager Barry Fennelly with the winner set to be rewarded with a start in February’s Bahrain Championship.

Murphy and Walker arrive looking to cap off good seasons at college level having picked up R&A Student Tour Series wins this year while Kitt has enjoyed another consistent season on the Irish amateur scene including runner-up finishes at the Connacht and Ulster Strokeplay.

The King Hamad Trophy has proven a popular winter stop for the Irish in recent years and the Maynooth quartet are joined in the field by Els Club Dubai Irishman Alistair Hess.
